MFA, MA and MS: not every film master's is an MFA
The Master of Fine Arts is a practice-based terminal degree in most film programs, built around production, screenwriting or producing work and usually ending in a thesis film or screenplay. Master of Arts degrees in film are often academic (history, theory, criticism) but some are professional; a Master of Science appears at some schools for production or media programs. Each card shows the exact award the school confers.
Practice-based MFAs are collected in MFA in Filmmaking and MFA in Screenwriting.
